State allocates millions for food for families program

ALBANY – The state has set aside over $40 million for 102 service organizations for the New York Food for New York Families program funded through the US Department of Agriculture.

The program was designed to create a more resilient statewide food system that supports local farms and provides high-quality, nutritious food to communities facing food insecurity.

Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Putnam County will receive 

$2 million.

  • The Regional Food bank of Northeastern New York will receive $2 million for the Capital Region and Mid-Hudson.
  • Feeding Westchester, Inc. will receive $609,000.
  • The Association of Learning and Mentoring will receive two grants totaling $100,000.
  • CCE of Putnam County will receive another $37,457.
  • CCE of Sullivan County will receive $50,000.
  • The Orange County Health Department will receive $22,000.
  • Dutchess Outreach Inc. will receive two grants totaling $95,000.
  • Kinyan Torah will receive $50,000.
  • North East Community Center, Inc. will receive $50,000.
  • Rockland Farm Alliance will receive $31,190.
  • United Talmudical Academy of Kiryas Joel will receive $50,000.
