MOUNT KISCO- The Northern Westchester Hospital (NWH) Foundation named Sandra Cordiano as a new board member.  Cordiano, a Pound Ridge resident, has also held various roles within multiple local community non-profits.  As a NWH Foundation Board member, she will join her fellow board members by being a community ambassador and provide guidance on strategic fundraising initiatives.

“Sandra’s three decades of unwavering dedication to NWH and to improving the health and wellness of our community inspires us all,” said Angela Kessel, chair of the NWH Foundation Board.  “Her extensive involvement in local philanthropic endeavors exemplifies the values that make our community thrive.  As she takes on her new role of board member, she’ll bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to NWH, which will help continue the Foundation’s current fundraising success.”

The NWH Foundation’s mission is twofold:  to secure philanthropic gifts that fuel investment and accelerate advancements at NWH and to inform the community about the value of having a medically and surgically sophisticated hospital in their community.  Through the Foundation’s leadership the hospital has broadened its cutting-edge clinical services with the establishment of several new programs, including the Northwell Health Neurosurgery Westchester, the Seema Boesky Heart Center, the Ken Hamilton Caregivers Center, the Yablon Cancer Health and Wellness Program, and the Hayworth Family Maternity Center that is currently under construction.

“As a member of the NHW Foundation Board, I look forward to playing an integral role in developing and executing strategic fundraising programs and other initiatives to enable NWH to progress and develop its mission of providing state-of-the-art health services to our community,” said Cordiano.

Cordiano has a rich history of volunteer service in northern Westchester County.  Since 2010, she has played a variety of roles at Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts in Katonah, including event planning, fundraising, and preserving artifacts.  Beginning in 2017 she served on its Rosen House Committee which is charged with ensuring the longevity of its extensive art collection.  She also served on the Rippowam Cisqua School’s (located in Bedford) Parents Association Executive Committee and as the Parents Association chair, actively supporting fundraising campaigns and auctions in the community.  Additionally, she held positions on the Board of Trustees and as treasurer for the Northern Westchester Parent Child Group in Bedford, overseeing budgets and fundraising.  Her volunteer efforts extended to organizations such as Friends of Karen, the Community Center of Northern Westchester and the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Westchester.

Cordiano worked at Sullivan & Cromwell, a world-renowned law firm, for 17 years, starting in administration while pursuing her education and eventually becoming the executive assistant to the chairman. She obtained her MBA in finance from Pace University.

All board directors serve three-year terms.
