MONTICELLO – It was a sight you don’t see every day, or for that matter, every year.
A giant evergreen, cut down in Vestal, New York, passed through downtown Monticello on its way to becoming the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree.
Cindy Rien of Monticello just happened to be on Broadway as the tree passed through the village on Thursday.
“One in a lifetime; this is amazing, as I am standing here trying to take video hopefully. I think it’s great. I don’t think it has ever happened before. Pretty amazing. I’m excited,” she said.
Monticello Mayor George Nikolados was thrilled to see the tree trucked downtown as it bypassed a construction zone on NY Route 17.
