LIBERTY- Vaping among young people is on the rise, and Sullivan 180 is responding with the introduction of the “CATCH My Breath” anti-vaping program.  The program is an evidenced-based youth nicotine vaping prevention program designed to provide young people with the skills to resist peer pressure and media influences to try e-cigarettes.

“The vaping epidemic has skyrocketed, really over the last 1o years or so,” said Amanda Langseder, Managing Director of Sullivan 180.  “Students don’t have the education or information they need to make an informed decision about vaping, let alone have the resources to get interventions when they are already hooked.”

Young people who use vaping devices have a high rate of negative side effects.  Langseder says that children who vape have higher rates of depression and anxiety.

Manufacturers of e-cigarettes and vape products create colorful and attractive devices that Langseder says are designed to be attractive to young people.

“Children have a right to understand what these vaping companies are doing.  They have a right to understand what marketing tactics these companies are using on them, and that what today’s all about,” said Langseder.
