NEWBURGH- Join the renowned American Brass Quintet on October 29, 2023, for an afternoon of cutting-edge chamber music.  The concert begins at 3:00 p.m. at St. George’s Church, 105 Grand Street, in Newburgh.

The concert is the quintet’s second presented by Newburgh Chamber Music.  The eclectic program ranges from 17th century dances edited by Raymond Mase to a new work by Timothy Higgins.

The quintet recently welcomed two new members, trombonist Hillary Simms and trumpeter Brandon Ridenour.  Simms made chamber music history, becoming the quintet’s first female member, and the first female trombonist to join the faculty at the Juilliard School.  Ridenour, a soloist, collaborative artist, composer, and arranger, is a Juilliard graduate and toured extensively with the renowned Canadian Brass.

The quintet also includes bass trombonist John D. Rojak, trumpeter Kevin Cobb, and horn player Eric Reed.

The American Brass Quintet has been in residence at Juilliard since 1987 and the Aspen Music Festival since 1970.  Since 2000 it has offered its expertise in performance and training with a program of mini-residencies as part of its regular touring.

Founded in 1960, the quintet has built an international reputation through its performances, commissioned works, and commitment to music education.  It has performed on five continents, made nearly 60 recordings, and premiered more than 150 contemporary works for brass.

Tickets are available at the door (cash or check only) or online.  Adults:  $35, Seniors:  $30, Students:  $10.  For further information, visit newburghchambermusic.org
