Hurley fills building department vacancies

HURLEY- The Town of Hurley has filled the two positions in its building department that became vacant earlier this month due to resignations.

Paul Economos has been hired as a full-time Zoning Enforcement Officer and Fire Inspector, succeeding Tom Tryon.  Troy Ashdown has come on board as a part-time Building Inspector and Municipal Code Officer, succeeding Eric Kitchen.
Both appointments were approved by the Hurley Town Board at its meeting on Tuesday, September 19, 2023.

Economos was a Building Inspector, Zoning Officer and Flood Plain Inspector for Hurley from 2002 to 2007.  He also has held Building Department positions in the Towns of Kingston, Saugerties and Ulster, and the City of Kingston, and has worked in the private sector.
Ashdown previously worked as a Code Enforcement Officer for the City of Kingston and a Fire Inspector for the Town of Catskill.

Economos, who started in his new position on Thursday, September 21, 2023, will be paid $1,442.32 per week.  Ashdown, whose first day will be Monday, September 25, 2023, will work 20 hours per week at a rate of $33 per hour.
