NEWBURGH -Several residents of the City of Newburgh urged the council Monday night to declare Crystal Lake a city park and it appears they will support it.

Councilwoman Ramona Monteverde spoke highly of the idea.

“It is incredible that we have this great opportunity to do that, provide green space. This is an urban city. We have beautiful trees, we have beautiful trails there,” she said.

Councilwoman Patty Sofokles, who was a driving force behind Downing Park in Newburgh, said Crystal Lake would make a great passive park.
