HIGHLAND- Premier Cares Foundation invites the Hudson Valley Region to participate in the 14th annual Prostate Cancer Walk as it makes its return to the Walkway Over the Hudson.  This family-friendly, community event will take place on Sunday, September 10, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until noon on the Highland side of the Walkway.

“September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, and there is an urgent need for prostate cancer support, education, advocacy, and awareness here in the Hudson Valley and across the country,” said Dr. Evan Goldfischer, a urologist and President of the Premier Cares Foundation Board.  “This year alone, nearly 250,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer.  With early detection, however, Prostate cancer is one of the most curable types of cancer when detected in the early stages.”  Executive Director, Gia McCormack added, “We couldn’t be more excited to bring this event back to the Walkway Over the Hudson.  This is the perfect place to bring Dutchess and Ulster County together for a cause that affects so many families.  We look forward to seeing everyone there!”

Participants will enjoy complimentary refreshments from Salsa Fresca, Eastdale Bagels, Crafted Kup, Panera Bread, and Texas Roadhouse.  Children and adults will be able to use the state-of-the-art daVinci surgical robot and meet many of the event’s sponsors who will be on hand with displays and giveaways. The Vassar College Barefoot fireflies will perform their glow jams show, singer and actress Molly Renfroe Katz will sing the National Anthem, and K104FM will be playing today’s hit music and spinning the wheel of prizes.

This event honors those who have battled prostate cancer, remembers the lives that have been lost, and encourages all men at risk for developing the disease to get screened.  The funds raised from the Prostate Cancer Walk provide support, awareness, education, and financial support to those individuals in our community lacking sufficient funds to address significant urologic and digestive health issues.  The NYS Bridge Authority will also be supporting this event by lighting the Mid-Hudson Bridge different shades of blue on the evening of Thursday, September 7.

Tickets to the 14th annual Prostate Cancer Walk are $25 per person and children under 10 are free.  Advance registration is required.
