PHOENICIA – A head-on crash on Route 28 in the area of Bridge Street in Phoenicia claimed the life of a 79-year-old Woodstock woman shortly after 6 p.m. on Friday, June 23, State Police reported Monday.
Troopers said the investigation revealed a 2002 Subaru Outback driven by Anna Maguire was traveling eastbound on Route 28 when she failed to negotiate a curve, crossed over into the westbound lane and struck a 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 head-on.
The driver of the truck was identified as Naftali Klein, 22, from Brooklyn, who suffered minor injuries, was evaluated at the scene by EMS and declined medical treatment.
State Police were assisted by Town of Shandaken Police and the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.
