Megan Deichler is running for reelection for the City of Poughkeepsie Common Council in Ward 8. I live in her ward. She is extremely knowledgeable about the issues and responsive to constituent concerns. In her first term she successfully paved neglected streets and led the effort to stop Airbnbs from taking over our neighborhood. Her goals for a second term include replacing all of Poughkeepsie’s lead pipes, creating a Rent Guidelines Board to freeze rents in buildings with six or more units built before 1974, and providing safe school transportation for kids. Early voting is available from June 17-25 at Mid-Hudson Library and the Boardman Road Library, or vote on June 27 at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
