KINGSTON – Mayor Steven Noble announced he will appoint Robert Dennison for the Kingston Common Council sixth ward post to replace Alderman Tony Davis who has retired.

The mayor called Davis “a dedicated civil servant.”

He said Dennison is running unopposed in the November election, so by appointing him now, “he will start his term early, and can be a part of this year’s budget process.”

Council President Andrea Shaut said while the city charter places the authority on the mayor to fill a council vacancy, she is pleased that the mayor collaborated with her in making his selection.

Dennison retired from the State Department of Transportation as chief engineer in 2011. He then worked as a consultant for an engineering firm until 2020.

Prior to his last transportation department post, he served as the state agency’s Hudson Valley regional director.

Davis’ last day on the common council will be Tuesday, June 6; Dennison will be appointed the following day.
