WASHINGTON – All three freshman Hudson Valley congressmen voted to support raising the nation’s debt ceiling. The vote Wednesday night was 314 to 117.

Representative Pat Ryan (D, NY-18) said had the measure failed, the consequences would have been catastrophic.

“I joined a bipartisan coalition, to number one, prevent a catastrophic default, and number two, pass a bill that really protects our veterans, protects our seniors and social security and Medicare, protects kids and vulnerable people, and to me, that’s the kind of responsible governing that families in the Hudson Valley deserve,” he said.

The region’s two Republican lawmakers, Mike Lawler (R, NY-17) and Marc Molinaro (R, NY-19) also voted in favor of the bill.
