SAUGERTIES- Cinco De Mayo didn’t end well for a woman arrested in the parking lot of the Saugerties Police Headquarters for allegedly driving while intoxicated (DWI).

A few minutes before 11:00 p.m. on May 5th, 27 year-old Kari L. Becker of Saugerties drove into the employee parking lot at the Saugerties Police Headquarters and parked near the employee entrance.  Becker, along with another individual, remained in the running vehicle listening to music.

Since the employee parking lot is a restricted area, an officer inquired as to what the couple was doing.  The officer found both parties were highly intoxicated and administered field sobriety tests.  Following the tests, Becker was brought into police headquarters, charged with DWI, and processed.

Becker submitted to a chemical breath test, which resulted in a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of 0.22 percent.  The high BAC resulted in an additional charge of aggravated DWI.

Becker told officers that she had been out all evening drinking margaritas and celebrating Cinco De Mayo.

Becker was released on tickets and is due back in court on May 15.
