MID-HUDSON – The Peekskill NAACP will be holding a community gun buyback program on Saturday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at United Methodist Church of Peekskill at 1040 Main Street.

No questions will be asked and no ID is required.

As with other gun buyback programs, gift cards will be distributed for turned-in weapons – $250 for an assault rifle; $200 for a handgun; $100 for a shotgun; and $25 for a non-working gun.

The following Saturday, April 29, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., a gun buyback program will be held at the American Legion Post in Kingston.

That event will be conducted by State Attorney General Letitia James, the Kingston Police Department, and Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.

Persons turning in an assault rifle or ghost gun will receive a $500 gift card. A turned-in handgun will bring a $500 gift card for the first one and then $150 gift card for any others.

Anyone turning in a rifle or shotgun will receive a $75 gift card and a non-working, replica, antique, homemade, or 3D printed gun will net the owner a $25 card.
