LIBERTY – Twenty-two-year-old Liberty resident Jean Jacquet was arrested by Liberty Police on Wednesday after an investigation into an armed robbery at the Sullivan Avenue Sunoco station on Tuesday evening.  Jacquet was arrested Wednesday morning in the Village of Monticello and was in possession of a loaded .380 handgun at the time he was taken into custody.

Jacquet was charged with the felonies of robbery, criminal use of a firearm, and criminal possession of a weapon.  He was also charged with misdemeanor menacing and petit larceny. Jacquet was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail, $250,000 secured bond, or $500,000 partially secured bond.

According to the Liberty Police Department, officers responded to the Sunoco station on Tuesday evening for a report that a masked individual had threatened the clerk at the gas station with a handgun, and had stolen cash and merchandise from the store.

The police investigation resulted in Jacquet being identified as the suspect, which led to his Wednesday morning arrest by Liberty Police.
