PEEKSKILL – A GoFundMe page has been created for Wilmer Cango, the 19-year-old Peekskill man who was one of two people to be killed by a train in Peekskill this past week.

The fundraising effort was established by family friend Jessica Pacheco on behalf of Wilmer’s mother, Libia Munoz, who will use the money to pay for funeral expenses.

“We are a small group of friends trying to help a mother bury her son,” Pacheco wrote. “As a parent we are not ready to say goodbye to our children especially by a tragic accident that take Wilmer life. Wilmer was a wonderful kid helping his mom in any way. He was hard working at CVS and a very good student.”

Pacheco said his mother “is the most kind woman and she is devastated and she wasn’t prepared for something like this any help count.”

Assemblywoman Dana Levenberg said she is “heartbroken once again as more details emerge about Wilmer Cango, the young Peekskill man who died earlier this week in yet another train accident. It is important for all of us to know the signs and respond if we suspect someone we know might be in crisis.”
