NANUET – The Rockland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of a human fetus in a catch basin at the Pascack Pump Station on Convent Road in Nanuet.
The discovery was made on Monday afternoon and authorities said it is most likely that it entered the sewer system earlier the same day.
The fetus was turned over to the Rockland County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. The office determined it was about 18 weeks old.
They were unable to determine the sex or any other characteristics.
The sheriff’s office is encouraging the mother or anyone else with information, including relatives, to come forward. Tips can be called into the sheriff’s office tip line at 845-638-5500. All falls will be kept confidential.
