GOSHEN – A Middletown man pled guilty in Orange County Court on Tuesday to burglary for breaking into his wife’s Town of Wallkill home in violation of a previously issued order of protection and stabbed her in the chest, causing a puncture wound to her liver.

Jonathan Harris, 40, a New York City a correction officer, fled but was apprehended after a traffic stop by police.

When sentenced next month, Harris is expected to serve 10 years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision.

“The defendant’s admitted violent conduct deserved to be met with a significant sentence of incarceration,” said District Attorney David Hoovler. “That this defendant was a corrections officer entrusted to protect and serve at the time he committed these violent acts is disturbing.”

The victim continues to recover from her injuries.
