Cat burglars arrested in Columbia County

CANAAN – Five alleged thieves of catalytic converters have been arrested by State Police in Columbia County.

Charged with criminal possession of stolen property and possession of burglar tools were Robert Perez, 41, Tonya Perez, 39, Lucindia Rideout, 51, Crawford Boice, 29, all of Schodack, and Ross Hendrick, 45, Castleton on Hudson.

Boice was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and Robert Perez was arrested on an outstanding warrant for petit larceny.

Just before 5 p.m. on December 20, troopers stopped a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria matching the description of a vehicle used in the theft of catalytic converters from vehicles in the area.

Investigation determined the occupants possessed two of those stolen devices as well as several tools t cut them from vehicles.

Approximately 3.3 grams of fentanyl was also located in the car.

Robert Perez was remanded to the Columbia County Jail without bail while the others were issued appearance tickets returnable to Canaan Town Court.
