Job growth up by 3.6 percent in Hudson Valley

ALBANY – Private sector jobs in the Hudson Valley rose over the year by 27,800, or 3.6 percent, to 799,500 in November.

Growth was centered in education and health services (+10,100); leisure and hospitality (+6,900); professional and business services (+6,500); natural resources, mining and construction (+4,300); and other services (+2,000).

Losses were greatest in financial activities (-1,300) and manufacturing (-500).

New jobs grew the most in Sullivan County at 6.8 percent. Ulster County saw 2.0 percent job growth.

The Orange-Rockland-Westchester Metro Area had a 1.1 percent growth in jobs.

Greene and the Dutchess-Putnam area each experienced 1.0 percent growth in jobs.

Columbia County saw 0.6 percent growth while Delaware County experienced a loss of 8.8 percent of its jobs.
