SAUGERTIES – A 23-year-old Town of Saugerties man was arrested on Saturday after he became engaged in a confrontation with Saugerties police officers.

As a result, he was charged with resisting arrest, exposure of a person and harassment following the incident on Burt Street in the Village of Saugerties.

At about 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, police encountered Alex Calixto, who was a passenger in a vehicle that had been involved in a property damage auto crash on Burt Street.

He was highly intoxicated, kept getting out of the vehicle and refused to comply with officers.

Calixto was verbally threatening toward the officers and eventually shoved one who was attempting to calm him down.

Police said that’s when he exposed himself while in the street and began urinating on the ground.

When officers attempted to take him into custody, he fought with them resisting their efforts until he was subdued.

He was processed at police headquarters where he was charged and released on a police appearance ticket.
