KINGSTON – Police in Kingston have arrested a Middletown man on charges that he stole used cooking oil from a business at 312 Plaza Road in the city.

Police charged Lenin Sepulveda, 35, with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.

Police said Sepulveda was observed stealing the oil and was followed by a witness who called Kingston Police. He was stopped on the Thruway by State Police following the incident on Friday, October 21.

Kingston Police advise the owners of businesses that collect or store used cooking oil to install cameras that can capture any illicit activity. They said that would not only deter thieves and protect property but also provide evidence that could be used to identify perpetrators and help solve crimes.

Anyone who witnesses suspicious activity or suspects a crime is in progress is urged to call Kingston Police at 845-331-1671.
