HYDE PARK – Police Chief Robert Benson announced late on Thursday afternoon that the body discovered in a wooded area off Route 9G has been identified as 31-year-old Christopher Imperatore, who was last seen leaving his home on August 27.

The Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Office used dental records to identify Imperatore on Thursday.  The deceased was Autistic and was reported missing on August 31, 2022.

Imperatore’s body was located Tuesday afternoon by two hunters.  The full account can be found here.

Chief Benson said  “The cause of death is still under investigation, but there is no indication of foul play.”  Another media outlet released a story on Wednesday that identified the body and noted a cause of death.  Chief Benson indicated that report was erroneous and pleaded “Out of respect for the family, please do not speculate on the case until the Dutchess County Medical Examiner completes their investigation and issues a final report.”

If anyone has any information about the case, please contact the Hyde Park Police Department at 845-229-9340 or hydeparkpolicetips@hydeparkny.us.
