HYDE PARK –  Two hunters found the body of a deceased person in the woods near Route 9G on Tuesday afternoon.  The Hyde Park Police Department is investigating the incident.

Hyde Park Police Chief Robert Benson told Mid-Hudson News on Wednesday evening that positive identification of the body has not been made yet.

On Tuesday the Hyde Park Police responded with the New York  State Police Forensic Intelligence Unit (FIU) and preserved the scene. The deceased was removed from the woods by the Dutchess County Medical  Examiner’s Office which planned to use dental records to identify the deceased.

Although the body has not been identified, multiple police agencies and others have been searching for Christopher Imperatore, a 31-year-old Autistic man that went missing from his home on August 27, 2022.  Imperatore was known to leave his residence on a regular basis to spend time in the woods.  When he didn’t return home, he was reported missing on August 31.
