KINGSTON – The Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency has named a new executive director to run the agency effective October 3.

Greg Ollivier is currently acting head of the Division of Solid Waste for the City of Bakersfield, California.

Ollivier has over 30 years of experience in managing waste programs for both the public and private sectors. He will earn $147,500 annually in his new post.

Most recently he has been directing the solid waste division for Bakersfield, a city of some 400,000 people, with an annual solid waste budget of roughly $50 million.

UCRRA’s 2022 budget is about $15.37 million in operating spending this year.

“I am coming from California where so many of these matters were regulated and I have worked on them for so long,” said Ollivier. “So I am being given the chance to get in on the ground floor to help Ulster County move forward, to really help lead in doing it the right way.”

The former acting executive director of the UCRRA, Timothy DeGraff, informed the board earlier this year that he wanted to return to his earlier role overseeing the agency finances. He had been serving in the dual role for some time.
