Troopers investigating fatal accident in Pleasant Valley

PLEASANT VALLEY – An early morning accident Wednesday on Route 44 in Pleasant Valley killed one driver and seriously injured another motorist.  The accident occurred on September 7 at approximately 5:50 a.m.

Troopers and the Pleasant Valley Fire Department responded to the accident on Route 44 near Brown Road for a report of a head-on collision.  Initial investigation revealed a 2009 Nissan Murano was traveling eastbound and attempted to pass two vehicles and struck a westbound Chrysler minivan head-on.

The operator of the Chrysler Town & Country was pronounced deceased on the scene.  The operator of the Nissan Murano was transported to a local area hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Route 44 was closed in both directions during the morning rush hour as emergency personnel worked at the scene.

State Police Investigator Gonyo is requesting any possible witness that has not yet spoken to the State Police to please contact the Troop K Bureau of Investigation at (845) 677-7300 and refer to case# 11034699.
