Thursday night fire in Hudson

HUDSON – The volunteers of the Hudson Fire Department had a busy Thursday night with a structure fire in their city, were on standby for a fire in the Greenport Fire District, and responded to a structure fire in Catskill.

While still on the scene of their fire, members of the Hudson Fire Department went on standby when the Greenport Fire Department was dispatched to a fire in their district.  The Hudson volunteers were not needed in Greenport and went to assist their department in packing up at the Hudson fire.

After packing and cleaning up, the Hudson firefighters returned to their station, and moments later they were requested to respond with manpower, an engine, and a ladder truck to assist the Catskill firefighters at a structure fire.

In a three-hour window, according to a Hudson Firefighter, three buildings were saved from extensive damage due to the quick actions of the volunteer firefighters from the Hudson, Greenport, and Catskill Fire Departments.
