NEWBURGH – The Newburgh City Police Department will be launching a mobile police station to enable a more agile and proactive policing response.

The station will help police to address local issues where they occur, allow officers to deploy services where they are needed and ensure officers will have a more visible presence in the community.

There has been a recent rash of shootings and other violence in the city’s east side and it is hoped this mobile station will help put a lid on some of that illegal activity.

The mobile station will be located at Liberty and South streets beginning on Monday, June 20.

During this time, the department will institute a 90-day no parking, no stopping, no standing period with parking restrictions in effect beginning on Monday, June 20 and ending on Saturday, September 17 on

  • North side of South Street from 119 South to Chambers Street,
  • North side of Gidney Avenue from Liberty to Chambers streets,
  • East side of Liberty Street from 285 Liberty to 380 Liberty.
