Highway superintendent indicted on charges of sex crimes against a child

WURTSBORO – The Mamakating Highway Superintendent who also serves as the Summitville Fire Department Chief, has been charged with felony sex crimes involving a child.

Robert Hufcut, age 55, of Wurtsboro, was arrested by the New York State Police after a several-month-long investigation into the alleged crimes that took place in the past when Hufcut lived in Orange County.

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation presented their evidence to an Orange County Grand Jury who voted to indict Hufcut on the felonies of predatory sexual assault against a child and course of sexual conduct against a child.

Hufcut was arrested on May 31, 2022, and arraigned in Orange County Court.  He was remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $150,000 bond.
