“Person of Interest” in Friday night stabbing now facing murder charge

POUGHKEEPSIE – A man that was detained after a Friday night stabbing in Poughkeepsie has been charged with felony murder.  The stabbing claimed the life of a 64-year-old woman at her home at 7 South Grand Avenue.

Police say that Stanley Robinson Jr. stabbed Nina Robinson to death.  A source has told Mid-Hudson News that the victim is the mother of the accused.

The 37-year-old Robinson was charged with murder by the City of Poughkeepsie Police on Saturday, May 28.  Robinson, originally described as a “person of interest” was apprehended at his home on Hoffman Street shortly after 12 a.m. on Saturday.  When located, he was suffering from a laceration to his hand, was transported to a local hospital for treatment and then taken into custody by the police.

According to City of Police Detective Sergeant Terrence Beam, Robinson was arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court on Sunday and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.
