SAUGERTIES – A 27-year-old Saugerties man has been charged with assault and an order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim in a domestic incident in which the woman was injured.
Saugerties Police said Adam Derivera was reportedly having an argument with his girlfriend when the victim, another woman, attempted to break it up and was pushed, knocking her down. As a result, she struck her head on a wooden support post resulting in a head wound.
She declined medical attention and Derivera had fled the scene of the April 29 incident before police arrived.
On the evening of May 3, he was located, arrested, and released on his own recognizance.
The court did order him to surrender any firearms he owned and police seized a handgun and two rifles.
