TOWN OF NORTH EAST – The Millerton Fire Department responded to a reported brush fire Wednesday night that was actually a structure fire. The 9:42 p.m. blaze on Red Cedar Lane required multiple departments to extinguish the flames.
Millerton Fire Chief Jason Watson said the fire at 59 Red Cedar Lane destroyed a newly constructed 20′ x 30′ building.
The Amenia fire department assisted at the scene along with Connecticut firefighters from the Sharon and Lakeville fire departments.
Watson said the cause and origin of the fire are being investigated by the Dutchess County Fire Investigation Division.
The departments worked at the scene until approximately 2:30 a.m. on Thursday.
