MONTICELLO – Sullivan County District Attorney Meagan Galligan announced that Shariff Robinson, 45, of Newark, New Jersey, pled guilty to felony Criminal Possession of a Weapon on Thursday, February 24, 2022.  Robinson had been arrested in May of 2021 in Fallsburg.

During his plea, Robinson admitted that he possessed a loaded and operable H&R model 929 revolver on May 19, 2021, in the Town of Fallsburg. The gun was recovered from the ground alongside Woodland Townhouse Road by Town of Fallsburg police officers responding to a dispute in the area and was linked to Robinson that night, resulting in his arrest.

The guilty plea came immediately before hearings were scheduled to commence on the case. At the time of sentencing, which is scheduled for April 28, 2022, Galligan’s office will recommend that Robinson serve seven and a half years in prison, to be followed by five years of post-release supervision.

“If you illegally possess a handgun in Sullivan County, you will go to prison,” Galligan said. The DA thanked the Town of Fallsburg Police Department, adding “This defendant’s vain attempt to conceal his possession of the gun by tossing it away when police arrived did not deter them from conducting an immediate and thorough investigation.” She also thanked Assistant District Attorney Steven Goldberg, who prosecuted the case.

Robinson remains incarcerated in the Sullivan County Jail pending sentencing.
