POUGHKEEPSIE – Two New York City women have been arrested by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) and charged with felony attempted grand larceny. According to Acting Sheriff Kirk Imperati, the women were involved in a scam in an attempt to defraud a victim of several thousand dollars.
Twenty-nine-year-old Elizabeth Taveras and her alleged co-conspirator, Sade Rosario, 29, were arrested on January 28 by DCSO detectives.
Imperati said his detectives became aware of a scam in which the suspects contacted the victim and informed the individual that a relative was a suspect in a DWI-related fatal crash and that they were looking for $25,000 to bail them out. After some research, the victim was able to recognize it as a scam and contacted the Sheriff’s Office. Detectives continued the investigation and were able to identify the two women.
Both subjects were arrested on January 28 in Wappingers Falls by DCSO detectives. The women had traveled up from the city thinking that they were picking up the $25,000 from their targeted victim.
After being processed, both subjects were released on appearance tickets and are due back in the Town of Wappinger Court on March 3rd at 5:30 p.m.
