Threat to school causes early dismissal

TOWN OF WAPPINGER – The Roy C. Ketcham High School was dismissed at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday while New York State Police investigated a “threat to the school community”.  The school had been in a hold-in-place earlier in the day with no details released.

The announcement of the dismissal of the school, located at 99 Myers Corners Road in Wappinger, was posted on the Wappinger Central School District website and notifications were sent to parents through the notification portal.

The announcement said that the dismissal is being done “Out of an abundance of caution related to a reported threat within the school community.”

The New York State Police are considering it an active investigation.

No additional details have been released.
