Man arrested for shooting through apartment door

NEW ROCHELLE – A Queens man was arrested at his home on Tuesday in connection with a shooting incident on the evening of Friday, January 7 at a New Rochelle apartment.

The suspect, identified as Muhammed Gumaneh, 27, allegedly tried to enter an apartment and fired a shot through the door. The 24-year-old New Rochelle woman who was targeted was not injured.

Gumaneh evaded police until Wednesday, January 11 when he was caught without incident at his home.

Gumaneh was charged with armed assault, burglary, reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of a weapon.

Assisting New Rochelle Police in the investigation and arrest of Gumaneh were the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, the county Police Real Time Crime Center, the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force.
