POUGHKEEPSIE – Convicted rapist Othelia Vaturina, age 41, was arrested on December 28 by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO).  Vaturina was arrested at the Pine Grove Motel in Beekman after DCSO detectives learned that he was in Dutchess County without registering as a sex offender.
He was arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.

Othelia Vaturina a/k/a Othelia Ray
DCSO detectives say Vaturina, who also uses the name Othelia Ray, had relocated from Binghamton to Beekman and was also staying in Poughkeepsie.  By law, when a Level 2 or Level 3 sex offender moves, they need to notify NYS of their new address.  Failing to register as a sex offender after moving is a felony.
Vaturina was classified as a Level 3 sex offender (highest risk of re-offense) after he was convicted in 2001 on attempted rape of a 9-year-old girl in Peekskill.  He was sent to prison and released in 2008.
DCSO Captain John Watterson said that anyone with information regarding Vaturina should call Detective David Meyer at 845-486-3778 or email him at dmmeyer@dutchessny.gov.  Confidential information can also be submitted to the general DCSO TIPS line at 845-605-2583 or emailed to dcsotips@gmail.com.
