Dutchess County continues COVID testing as infection rate rises

POUGHKEEPSIE – A spike in COVID cases in Dutchess County has reached a new plateau with 2,649 active cases as of Tuesday morning.  That is the highest infection rate to date.  Seventy-four county residents are currently hospitalized with COVID.

Free COVID testing for county residents is available at the former JC Penney at the Poughkeepsie Galleria.  The entrance for the test site is on the second floor near Best Buy.

 

Testing at the JC Penney site for this week is as follows:

  • Tuesday, December 28, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday, December 29, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Thursday, December 30, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

At the JCPenney location, ProPhase offers PCR testing taken by lower nasal swab or saliva.  Pre-registration is preferred by following this link: https://tiny.prophasedx.com/Senergenedutchesscounty.

 

Walk-up testing is also available. There is no cost to residents or to the county to offer this testing option. ProPhase Labs works directly with insurance providers, or for those without insurance, with the federal government for all costs.

 

Results are available approximately 72 hours from the time the lab receives the specimen. Results are available via the Vacctrack App.
