MONTICELLO – The Sullivan County Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association which represents the patrol division of the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office continues their community action and involvement. During the months of November and December of this year, members have participated in the No Shave November and subsequent Double Down December campaign.

No Shave November was created in 2009 for cancer prevention research, fundraising, and to create awareness.

Donations were raised with each member participating donating $50 each per month. A total of $3,000 was raised and donated to the American Cancer Society in the memory of Debra Hall. Detective Corporal Debra Hall passed away at the age of 57, on December 20, 2015, after a two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. She was a 19-year-veteran with the agency. The PBA has used No Shave November as a means to continue her memory by making these donations, in addition to providing annual scholarships in her honor presented to deserving graduating students from Sullivan County.

Members of the PBA

The generosity of the Sullivan PBA hasn’t stopped there. During the entire holiday season, the union has secured donations of food and pantry staples that were donated to the Sullivan County Children’s Foundation and provided 27 families with much needed meals.

The PBA also sponsored two children between the ages of 10 and 2 through the Giving Tree, which is hosted by the Boys and Girls Club. The sponsorship of these children provided selected items that were provided by the kids on their own tailor-made wish list and included toys and sporting goods, ensuring that the children had gifts of their own to open.

The members of the Sullivan County PBA remind residents they are active members in their communities. The majority of the members belong to numerous civic clubs and organizations and are representatives in and around Sullivan County.

They would like to wish everyone a safe and healthy holiday season.
