GOSHEN – People waving American flags lined the street in the Village of Goshen on Thursday, as hundreds of wreaths were escorted to the Orange County Veterans Cemetery.

Every December, residents contribute to the Wreaths Across America effort so that a wreath can be placed at every grave at the cemetery.

County Clerk-elect Kelly Askew was among those welcoming the convoy that included dozens of police cars and fire trucks.

“It’s a big day for us at the clerk’s office. We come out every year to wave and say ‘good job’. We’re glad to see them going by,” she said as members of her clerk’s office joined her in welcoming the wreaths.

Police cars from across the county, as well as fire trucks, lights flashing and sirens blaring, led the convey.

On Saturday, hundreds of people are expected at the cemetery to participate in the wreath laying tradition.
