Sullivan County tops regional private sector growth rate

ALBANY – With a 12-month job growth rate of 4.4 percent, Sullivan County tops the chart in the Hudson Valley/Catskills in November, the State Labor Department reports.

Columbia County, with a growth rate of 4.0 percent, was second, followed by the  Orange-Rockland-Westchester Metro Area at 3.7 percent, Ulster County with 2.5 percent, and Delaware County with 1.0 percent job growth.

Greene County was flat and the Dutchess-Putnam Metropolitan Division fell by 0.7 percent.

Private sector jobs in the Hudson Valley rose over the year by 22,100, or 3.0 percent. To 766,400 in November.

Job growth was centered in leisure and hospitality (+13,400); professional and business services (+6,100: trade, transportation and utilities (+2,600); educational and health services (+1,900); manufacturing (+1,400: other services (+1,300); and information (+300).

Losses were greatest in natural resources, mining and construction (-3,700) and financial activities (-1,200).
