NEW YORK – A Brewster Village Police officer has been arrested by federal authorities in connection with a sex trafficking and bribery scheme.

It is alleged that Officer Wayne Peiffer of Highland had sex with girls being trafficked as payment for his protection of the traffickers.

Peiffer, 48, has been a Brewster cop since at least 2006. It is alleged that for more than eight years, he directed members of two sex trafficking organizations to deliver women to him, including at the Brewster Police Station, so that he could have sex with them for free in exchange for him providing the two organizations, Cid-Hernandez and Godinez Prostitution Business, protection from arrest, including by advanced warning of law enforcement operations and intervening to prevent arrest.

Five other people, all Queens residents, were arrested in connection with the alleged sex trafficking of young women and minor girls and the promotion of prostitution. The men allegedly used force, threats of force, fraud and coercion to bring young women and minor girls from Mexico to engage in prostitution in the United States. Once in the U.S., they victims were transported to prostitution clients throughout the State of New York.
