Newburgh PD investigates six gunfire incidents in less than week

NEWBURGH – The City of Newburgh Police Department is currently investigating several shots-fired incidents that have occurred over the last week.  Monday afternoon’s gunfire forced the Newburgh Enlarged City School District (NECSD) to put the schools on “lockdown”.

 

The incidents are as follows:

 

  • November 17, 2021, at 10:47 p.m. a ShotSpotter activation in the area of 191 Washington Street. Officers recovered two shell casings from this incident.
  • November 18, 2021, at 9:18 p.m. ShotSpotter activation in the area of 294 First Street. Responding officers recovered one spent shell casing from this incident.
  • November 19, 2021, at 10:40 p.m. a ShotSpotter activation at 72 Carson Avenue. Responding officers recovered one shell casing from this incident.
  • November 21, 2021 at 12:42 a.m. ShotSpotter activation in the area of 162 South Street. Responding officers recovered two shell casings from this incident.
  • November 22, 2021 at 7:09 a.m. ShotSpotter activation in the area of 155 Lander Street. Responding officers recovered five shell casings from this incident.
  • November 22, 2021, at 1:20 p.m. ShotSpotter activation in the area of 128 Renwick Street. Responding officers recovered shell casings from this incident.

 

These shots-fired incidents do not include the gun battle that occurred last Wednesday in which four teenagers were wounded.

 

All of these incidents are currently under investigation by City of Newburgh Detectives, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office Anyone with any information is asked to call City of Newburgh Detectives at 845-569-7509.
