GOSHEN – The nationwide shortage of nurses and other healthcare professionals has impacted the Orange County-owned Valley View nursing home in Goshen.

Director Laurence LaDue said he has had to temporarily close a couple of units because of the difficulty in recruiting staff.

“We have had to close two units and we are struggling to staff nine units versus 11 units that we had. This is not a Valley View issue, this is a healthcare issue,” he said.

LaDue said some hospitals and other healthcare facilities are offering sign-on bonuses in an effort to attract more staff.
