TOWN OF LEXINGTON – A 39-year-old Brooklyn man has been arrested for spray painting graffiti on a lean-to on state lands at Hunter Mountain.

On November 2, Department of Environmental Conservation rangers began an investigation into damage to the John Robb lean-to after it was posted on social media.

Two days later, the suspect, identified as Oscar Ayala, was located at the lean-to attempting to clean up the graffiti.

He was taken into custody and charged with a misdemeanor for making graffiti and violations for defacing rock and natural materials on state land and defacing a DEC structure.

Ayala is due back in court next month.
