WHITE PLAINS – An Inwood man was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated after the 2020 Peterbilt tractor-trailer he was driving near exit 8 on I-287 in White Plains crossed all three westbound lanes, struck the center guiderail and overturned.

The incident, at 8:10 Thursday morning, resulted in a load of rock debris being dumped on the road, blocking all westbound lanes and the left and center eastbound lanes.

The driver, Billy Robinson, 55, was uninjured. He had a blood alcohol content of 0.24 percent, was turned over to a sober third party and released on an appearance ticket.

The crash caused significant traffic delays in the area. It took nearly four hours to clean up the road and reopen all lanes.
