MILTON – The $1.6 million Milton Landing Pier and Park has been completed and on Friday evening, the local community came out to celebrate it.

The project transformed a former fuel dock and deep-water pier and the adjacent land into a gateway for residents and travelers to access the area. The pier provides deep water mooring and will accommodate large touring vessels.

“This opportunity for large ships, like the Clearwater, to dock here will afford the public the opportunity to explore all that the hamlets of Marlboro and Milton have to offer – recreation, culture and historic events, and agri-tourism,” said Town Supervisor Al Lanzetta. “It will reconnect Marlborough with our beautiful Hudson River.”

The state kicked in $313,000 toward the $1.6 million cost of the project.

Marlborough is a significant agri-tourism destination with its large concentration of fruit farms, along with seven wineries and a distillery.

“The Mid-Hudson Region is one of the most picturesque regions in New York State, said Ulster County Executive Patrick Ryan. “It is not only filled with natural beauty and bounty but is rich with history. The completion of Milton Landing Park and Pier capitalizes on the best of what we have to offer, which is a boon to residents and visitors alike and is a welcome addition to Ulster County.”
