MONTICELLO – A 25-year-old Monticello man was shot early Saturday morning, the second time he was the victim of a gunshot wound in less than three months.
Monticello police were called to 36 York Avenue around 12:30 a.m. where they found the man who had been shot in the leg.
He refused to cooperate with police and was transported to Garnet Health Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill for medical treatment.
Police said the same man was shot in the right shoulder in another incident on June 10 in which he also refused to cooperate with investigators.
Anyone with information about the latest shooting incident can call Monticello Police in confidence at 845-794-4422.
Authorities say they remain committed to rooting out violent actors in the community even when those directly victimized refuse to cooperate in the investigations.
“We recognize these acts victimize our entire community,” said Lt. Mark Johnstone.
