MONTICELLO – A Walden couple has been indicted by a Sullivan County grand jury on several counts of murder and burglary in connection with the deaths of two men in their Town of Bethel home on January 13, 2021.

The 11-count indictment charges David Host, 33, and Chastity Cutway, 37, with five counts of murder, five counts of burglary, and conspiracy.

It is alleged that Host and Cutway broke into the home of Glenn Travis, 41, and Derek Travis, 19, at 55 Murphy Road with the intent to kill both men and burglarize their home. A woman in the home at the time of the murders, Tammy Carminati, escaped injury when a gun Cutway pointed at her jammed. She was then able to hide behind a closed door, the indictment said.

When the gun misfired, Cutway and Host then allegedly beat both Travis men with a baseball bat and stabbed them, killing both victims.

Cutway, Host and another man, Anthony Martino, were indicted on a conspiracy charge.

It is alleged that Martino drove the couple to Newburgh for the purpose of buying a gun to kill the Travis men and Carminati. The defendants believed the gun their bought was loaded and operable.
