GOSHEN – A Middletown man was found guilty in Orange County Court on Thursday of sexual abuse, forcible touching and criminal trespass in connection with an incident on January 27, 2020, at a woman’s home.

When sentenced in September, Ryan Nagle, 28, faces up to seven years in state prison followed by five years of post-release supervision if convicted of the sexual abuse charge.

It is alleged that Nagle subjected the victim to sexual contact by forcible compulsion when they were in her home, and that he intentionally, and for no legitimate purpose, forcibly touched the sexual or intimate parts of her for the purpose of degrading or abusing her and to satisfy his own sexual desires. It was also argued that Nagle knowingly and unlawfully remained in her home during the attack.

The trial began on July 12 and is the first felony jury case conducted in Orange County Court since the courts had stopped in-court proceedings due to pandemic.

At the beginning of the trial before Judge Hyun Chin Kim, everyone in the courtroom wore masks, but later those who were fully vaccinated were allowed to remove them.
